"Kapiolani"

Who is Kapiolani? Kapiolani was a Queen of the Hawaiian Islands who is famous for defying the goddess Pele in the name of Christianity.  Alfred Tennyson wrote about this bold story in his poem "Kapiolani."   The words in my TagCrowd above describe the heroic, vivid story that Tennyson displays in his poem.  Tennyson describes the scene with bright, dramatic color from the fire goddess Pele.  Because of Kapiolani's dauntless actions against Pele, she can be seen as a heroic figure for Christianity.
